Abstract :
Bluetooth access points (BAP) allow Bluetooth devices to access the Internet via wireline facilities. The capacity of a BAP is limited by the data rate and number of active slaves supported by each Bluetooth piconet. The paper presents a novel design of a high capacity BAP employing multiple transceivers to support several piconets, and a common baseband processor implementing a collision avoidance scheduling (CAS) algorithm to minimize the detrimental effects of interference between collocated piconets. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed CAS algorithm in increasing the throughput of the BAP compared to a BAP that does not employ CAS.
