Abstract
A procedure for designing a cylindrical dielectric resonator (DR) filter, based on a full wave segmentation method, that allows the filter layout in a step by step basis to be obtained thus saving time and cost was presented in [1]. This approach, using an effective strategy reduces design time. It relies on the powerful properties of segmentation that allows the splitting of the complete and complicated circuit into a set of structures that may be linked to build complex circuits [2]. In [3] SFELP a hybrid 3D Finite Element/Segmentation method with fast frequency sweep, based on the Symetric Matrix Pade-via-Lanczos algorithm[4], has been introduced as an useful tool for the analysis of passive microwave circuits. In this work the application of SFELP to the CAD of a DR filter, with four poles, equiriple and group delay equalization is suggested to test the capabilities of the method in large problems and to study its improvements over the previous methods.
