  • Abstract
Digital Equipment Corporation´s DB Integrator (DBI) is a shipping, fully functional multi-database management system. DB Integrator is targeted at customers who have data stored in multiple data sources, typically heterogeneous and/or non-relational, who want to view those data sources as a single logical database from the data and/or metadata perspective. It provides users executing applications on a variety of client platforms with a consistent single database view across a variety of relational and non-relational data sources through standard APIs (e.g., SQL92, ODBC). Built in conjunction with DBI are a set of gateway products, each of which provide access to a single data source (e.g., Digital´s CODASYL database). The gateway products can be used in isolation to provide access to a single data source or can be used in conjunction with DB Integrator
