            Abstract :
The weighting sum method has been widely used in multi-criteria evaluation, ranking, classification and selection problems. A key issue is to determine criteria weights. Many methods to address this issue involve subjectivity. This paper presents an approach to mathematically generate the criteria weights. The proposed approach only needs the importance order of criteria and is mathematically simple. The appropriateness is illustrated by a real-world example that deals with multi-criteria ABC classification.
