Abstract
In order to meet the structural and property demands of the antennas used in WLAN terminals, a novel compact dual-band planar inverted-F antenna is proposed in this paper. The radiating element of the antenna is T-shape slotted and cut off a triangle at its corner. The simulated low and high frequency bands of the presented antenna for VSWR<2 can cover the WLAN 2.4/5GHz bands defined by IEEE802.11a/b/g protocols and HIPERLAN/2 protocol, simultaneously. The radiation patterns of the antenna in free space are approximately omni-directional. The total efficiency and peak gain of the designed antenna also satisfy the needs of the WLAN system. Furthermore, the antenna prototype was fabricated and measured. Good agreement between the measurement and simulation results can be observed.
