Abstract :
In this work, a distributed MIMO scheme for open areas and urban street microcells is theoretically analyzed. It uses more than one base station at the same time to increase the diversity. The advantages found using this approach are: a bigger capacity, fewer antennas in the base station and a softer handover. However, it needs a more complex signal processing at both ends of the link. A two ray model and a ray-launching engine based on the application of geometrical optics (GO) are used to analyze the MIMO channel.
