Abstract :
An improved fuzzy edge detection algorithm is presented, and the drawbacks of Pal fuzzy algorithm have been overcome by a new enhancement operator based on gauss function. Firstly, the threshold parameter was confirmed by maximum variance automatic selection threshold method, and then linear translation was used to define a new membership function based on the new threshold parameter. As a result, the image can be changed to the equivalent image fuzzy characteristics plane. The enhance operation can be used in the fuzzy characteristics plane with the Gauss enhancement operator. Then the edge extraction can be carried out after the image has been changed to a spatial domain image as mentioned above. The experiment results show that not only the edge is obvious but also the noise is light by adopting this new algorithm.
