Abstract :
We present a radio over fibre system based on sub-harmonic transmission of local oscillator signals. As phase noise matters for such systems, we report simulation results on evolution of BER with phase noise and modulation format. Then experimental results illustrate the system concept: a 40 Mbit/s QPSK signal is transmitted over 9 km of standard single-mode fibre and radiated at 57 GHz over 3 m and successfully recovered.
