Abstract :
The application of the Geographic Information System (GIS)is the important way to increase the level of the metallogeneic prognosis. The metallogenetic prognosis based on GIS using the weights of evidence model can be do through overlaying the information of geoseience related with the mineral resources. This paper describes the basic principle of the weights-of-evidence method. Take for example the northern segment in the Laogou-Mohe area of Heilongjiang Province, quantitatively analyzed by using the weights-of-evidence method on the basis of extraction of ore-forming information from geological, geophysical, geochemical and remote sensing geological data. The weight evidence method is applied to simulate the mine evaluation of the study area. Based on the posteriori probabilities, three-grade prospective subareas have been classified and two first-grade metallogeneic targets have been outlined. It provides a way of selecting target area in the process of looking for mineral resources.
