Abstract
The occurrence of ionospheric scintillations was studied using Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements at Guilin (25.29degN, 110.33degE; geomagnetic: 15.04degN, 181.98 degE). The detailed results are presented for data collected from January 2007 to June 2008. We generally found that amplitude scintillations occurred rarely at night and frequently in the daytime during the period of data analyzed. Strong daytime amplitude scintillations occurred more frequently in 2008 than in 2007. It was found that amplitude scintillation can occur with or without phase scintillation. On the other hand, phase scintillation can occur with or without amplitude scintillation.
