Abstract :
Systems of infrared remote sensing can be successful as far as they distinguish the target from the background. Modeling of sea backgound has a great importance for the systems of sensing and the counter systems developed to protect the platforms on the sea surface. It is known that sea surface is one of the most strongly polarized media in infrared band. In this paper modeling of the polarization of radiance reflected from the sea surface in the infrared band is presented. For this study polarization calculation methods are inserted in the software DAMA (Infrared Sea Modeling and Analysis) and it is observed that reflected sun radiance is horizontally polarized and thermal sea radiance is vertically polarized. Modeling of the polarization of the radiances reflected from the sea surface in the infrared band provides inputs to the studies to distinguish the platform in the background and to develop the techniques to hide the platform in the background.
