Abstract :
Architectural changes in benchtop and ATE (automatic test equipment) hardware and software used for video signal generation have presented engineers with an opportunity to update and focus test techniques used in evaluating video signal processors. Four new test signal formats for general use in video testing are proposed: the circle signal for chrominance bandwidth analysis, the chirp and multitone signals for luminance bandwidth analysis, and the butterfly signal, a general-purpose RGB test signal for component evaluation of chroma demodulators. A new software tool for generating and evaluating virtually any video signal including these new video test signals is also described.
