Abstract
In this paper, we examine electromagnetic wave tunneling through multi-layer structures composed of ϵ-negative (ENG) materials sandwiched by double-positive (DPS) layers. We present an analytical method for synthesizing such structures and demonstrate that these structures can be used to develop frequency selective surfaces (FSS) and filters capable of handling extremely high power levels. An FSS prototype based on this concept is designed and experimentally characterized in a waveguide environment.
