Abstract :
This paper describes the background of installing 11 kV circuit breakers and unit protection in Hong Kong Electric Co. Ltd.´s (HEC) 11 kV/0.38 kV distribution substations on a trial basis for field evaluation. The design concept on how the protection scheme enhances the electricity supply quality is also explained. Furthermore, the paper presents how numerical technology and integrated protection and control concepts are applied to cope with the operational requirements
