Abstract
All-optical regeneration is considered as a key technology for future optical networks, since it prevents the accumulation of signal´s distortion. Ideally, an all-optical regenerator should be scalable with the number of the WDM channels that are transmitted. In the present paper we study the cascadeability of a fiber-based subsystem introducing its operation as an efficient and simple in-line regeneration scheme for WDM systems.
