Abstract :
Voice digitization techniques such as PCM or ADPCM usually employed in domestic private network requires 64 or 32 kbps speed for a single voice channel transmission and it is still expensive for an international private network. KDD laboratory has developed a highly efficient and good quality voice codec. Using this codec and employing a highly efficient multiplexing technique, KDD has developed a system called ICX (Intelligent Circuit Exchange) which can integrate voice and data traffic efficiently and economically. This paper describes the design principles and functions of the ICX which is under installation for commercial use, and presents an international private network configuration using the ICX
