Abstract :
Because of the Faraday rotation effect in the ionosphere, the elliptical polarization high frequency electromagnetic wave is used to simulate the sky wave to illuminate the ship targets. The half space FDTD method is utilized to model the ship targets on ocean which have the similar structures. The backscattered instantaneous polarization information of the targets can help to classify targets. The computer simulation results show this method not only can classify them, but also can distinguish the targets motion direction.
