Abstract :
As design complexity increases, designers have tried many techniques in order to increase the productivity of their synthesis methodology. Recently, there has been a trend towards describing designs and target technology libraries at a higher level of abstraction. The hope is that by recognizing complex design expressions and by mapping to complex library cells, a synthesis tool will generate more efficient data paths. Also, since complex design expressions are usually very expensive to implement in hardware, intelligent resource allocation and sharing procedures are required
