Abstract :
A novel wavelength-selection-free transmitter is studied, for which the wavelength is set using a temporary filtered ASE injection. The transmitter is based on a self-adaptive cavity laser diode (S-ACLD) architecture. Preliminary direct current modulation tests of the S-ACLD has performed. Quality factors in back-to-back configuration of 13 and 7.7 has been respectively measured with a NRZ format bit rate of 400 Mbit/s and 800 Mbit/s. These performances are limited by the non-optimized electrical impedance mismatch of the laser diode chip.
