Abstract
An analytic approach to the design of a high transition energy lattice with modulated beta -function is proposed. An application to the racetrack lattice design of the MKF medium energy synchrotron is given. The agreement between the results predicted by analytic formulas and the results obtained by the MAD computer code is found to be good.<>
