Abstract :
Rectangular open dielectric waveguide sections made of monocrystalline Sapphire and GaAs were developed. In spite of much smaller cross-section of the dielectric waveguide than that of the standard metal waveguide low insertion loss (~0.2 dB for 50 mm Sapphire and ~0.5 dB for 50 mm GaAs waveguide section) and low VSWR (~1.05) have been achieved.
