Abstract
We have developed a high performance twin feedhorn antenna structure with excellent input match, very high isolation, low cross polarization, and high efficiency characteristics over a relatively wide frequency range. The developed structure is optimized for the 11.7 to 12.7 GHz DBS satellite band, and can easily be scaled to any other frequency range. Radiation patterns are symmetric in both the E and H-planes. And the antenna efficiency exceeds 80% with low cross-polarization. The developed twin-feed structure is surrounded by grooves (corrugation) that have been optimized to minimize mutual coupling, and the centers of the two horns have been accurately positioned to produce dual beams when used to feed the reflector.
