Abstract :
The paper discusses the performance of a multiplexer for bursty input traffic in an ATM network, and analyzes the relation between the traffic burstiness and cell loss rate or delay time. A buffer design method is proposed for the given cell loss rate and delay time, and then, a marking congestion control method is given which is shown to be effective in improving the network service quality and the throughput
