Abstract :
Interactive simulation by software is becoming widely used as computers are improved in speed. A lot of efforts to visualize simulation results are reported. Though simulation and visualization are needed in every field in power system management, required functions in simulation and effective visualizations depend upon the purpose of them in each field. We study interaction in power system simulation. Interaction is required in creating power system models and changing electric parameters. We also examine the visualization which is effective in power utilities. Combinations of topological display and graphical representations are effective for humans to understand power system behavior. We developed a power system education system which realizes the interactive simulation and relevant visualization. The system is used in education courses and an operational planning department in a utility
