Abstract :
Mechanism of electrode approach speed effect on discharge parameters, a hot concern in the field of electrostatic discharge research, is analyzed with basic principles in fluid mechanics. Fast moving speed of electrode generates fluid flow in discharge gap and outside of it, making variation of air pressure state between two electrodes. Reduction of air pressure in the gap, based on analysis and derivation, is the dominate factor resulted in the significant action on discharge parameters by electrode fast moving speed.
