Abstract
In this paper, a new joint direction of departure (DOD) and direction of arrival (DOA) estimation method is presented for bistatic multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar. Because all the diagonal elements of the transmitting and receiving invariance matrices are located on the unit circle of the complex plane, we construct a complex matrix so that the DOD and DOA pairing is given automatically by the real and imaginary parts of its complex eigenvalues. Thus this method can be applied under any condition of target distribution, which does not suffer from incorrect pairing problem as existing methods in literature. Simulation results show that the new method provides satisfactory performances but with drastically reduced computations compared with previous work.
