Abstract :
A novel non-empirical model based on the concentric ring approximation is presented for circular spiral transformers. The model takes into account substrate RF loss and non-uniform distribution of current density across the conductors. Results for several stacked spiral transformers arc compared with experimental data. Good agreement is demonstrated between simulated and measured values of transformer ratio, coupling constant, and efficiency.
