Abstract :
A novel scheme that provides efficient transmission power control (TPC) for user portable terminals of Ku-band satellite communication systems is presented. The scheme features the use of unique switching and impedance matching techniques for the MESFET high power amplifier (HPA). A detailed performance estimation is carried out and confirmed by the measurement. Experimental results show that the HPA employing the novel scheme achieved 5 dB of TPC efficiently.
