  • Abstract
    Magnetically coupled (even-mode) D-rings are subwavelength resonators that exhibit strong coupling to radiation. As such, they offer the potential to implement an efficient and electrically small antenna (ESA). However, a significant challenge has been to achieve an impedance match to 50Ω while driving the D-rings. In this paper, we present an ESA comprised of D-rings that are driven by an effective inter-digital monopole and an embedded matching network. The implemented ESA has a footprint of 1/10λ×1/14 λ and experimental results reveal a wide operational bandwidth of 1.0GHz-1.75GHz.
