  • Abstract
This paper addresses the problem of efficiently using the fibers in the physical cabling plant to connect the pairs of communication devices. This paper formulates the structure of the physical cabling plant, the communication (physical connection) requirement, and the problem of assigning the fibers to physical connections required. Then, this paper presents algorithms that solve the fiber assignment problem. The algorithms also decide if the physical plant can satisfy the connection requirement
