Abstract
In this paper, a new signal component separate (SCS) algorithm named double threshold SCS is proposed. It can improve both the efficiency of Chireix-outphasing combiner and the isolated combiner in LINC system. Two thresholds are used to decompose the input signal into two signals with much lower peak-to-average ratio. This method can improve the efficiency of both Chireix-outphasing combiners and isolated combiner without deteriorating the linearity. The result is validated by decomposing a WCDMA downlink signal with 8 dB peak-to-average ratio. Cosimulation in ADS and MATLAB for a complete LINC system is done to support this new algorithm. The simulation results show that the efficiency has been improved tremendously while the linearity is retained the same level as which using the general SCS algorithm.
