Abstract :
Measuring altitude on GPS with the field survey by our study team members, the spatial distribution and altitude of the remained topographic information of ancient large lake sediment in the study area has been identified. By using GIS´s spatial analysis functions, and based on Digital Elevation Model (DEM), Ulungur ancient large lake has been reconstruction. And the three-dimensional display of Ulungur ancient large lake has also been available. The study reveals that Ulungur ancient large lake level is higher than nowadays scientifically, which provides indirect evidence to study the geological history of the region´s climatic and environmental evolution. This research demonstrates that DEM method has proved to be a powerful tool in ancient large lake reconstruction and evolution studies, and has the potential to improve our knowledge of lake evolution and environment change significantly.
