Abstract :
A “volume method” to simulate flood scene was proposed in the paper. The method is based on the theory that water flow to lower place and volume of water flow out from the dike breach is equal to the volume of the water in submerged area. DEM data was applied to get the submerged area and the depth of water in certain water level. Dichotomy method was used to gain the final water level. Experiments were conduct to simulate the submerged area and the depth of water in the dike-protecting area of Yangtze River. Good results were archieved.
