Abstract :
Using information from the database of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, statistics are provided concerning choice of field, success rates, participation by women, take-up and deferral rates for students applying for NSERC postgraduate and postdoctoral awards in electrical/computer engineering fields. Trends in these quantities, and their possible implications, are discussed
