Abstract :
There has recently been increasing interest in the development of multiscale image coding algorithms which can easily generate image data, efficiently coded, at a variety of resolution levels. In this paper we consider the application of the wavelet transform for this purpose, whilst taking into account the properties of the human visual system (HVS), and present results for both still images and videotelephone-type image sequences
