Abstract :
In this paper performance results of a WDM cross-connect switch based on FBG-OC (fiber Bragg grating-optical circulator) are evaluated including the effect of intra-band crosstalk. Results show that the system suffers a power penalty (at BER = 10-9) of 2.06 dB if the value of fiber Bragg grating crosstalk factor (XFG) is increased from -70 dB to -25 dB for a fixed value of optical circulator crosstalk factor, XOC = -55 dB and a power penalty (at BER = 10-9) of 2.24 dB when the value of XOC is increased from -50 dB to -25 dB for a fixed value of XFG = -45 dB.
