Abstract :
This paper investigates the feasibility of a PWM current source inverter scheme for medium-frequency induction heating applications. In contrast to the conventional current source inverter, this inverter achieves output power regulation primarily through pulse width modulation within the inverter bridge. This results in a faster system dynamic response with improved efficiency. The basic features of the proposed scheme are described in the paper. The state-space method of analysis is used to provide performance characteristics which are experimentally verified on a 1 kVA prototype
