Abstract
Over the past few decades, Hong Kong has gained reputation for its high-quality postgraduate education, especially in the engineering disciplines. As the previous colony of the United Kingdom, Hong Kong´s tertiary education system has apparent differences with that of mainland China. This article presents a comparison of the enrolling systems, training mode, curriculum design, and schooling system of postgraduate students between these two territories. It is shown that the Hong Kong system has a number of advantages over mainland China. The conclusions provide a valuable reference for the reform of the postgraduate education system in mainland China.
