Abstract :
Visualization of Geographic information is an important research field in GIS. In China, DLG is an important GIS product. It is the basic data of the national spatial data infrastructure. Up till now, the visualization method of DLG is geographic information-portrayal. However, the inherent characteristics of Geographic informationportrayal may lead to a relatively higher data production input. Still, the visualization effect is not ideal. We proposed a new product named Digital Line Graphs and Map(DLGM), which consists of DLG and DLG´s cartographic presentation data. It provides the visualization data based on the cartographic standards. Due to the manufacture and management of the DLGM data that are independent from software and platform, its data can be used in many fields. The purpose of this paper is to realize a high quality visualization of water system features managed by DLGM product, and to show DLGM´s advantage in GIS visualization. The map symbol of DLGM product can be edited, which solved the boundary line symbol, Rivers gradient, and the conflict between roads and rivers. At the end of the paper, we give an example, which uses the 1:10000 DLGM data of a certain area, to show the high quality GIS visualization of DLGM. Base on this study, we suggest that DLGM can provide high quality GIS visualization that corresponds to cartographic presentation mechanism.
