Abstract :
Safety management is an integral part of project management, and safety performance is possible if only there is an effective safety management. A proper performance evaluation is also found to be crucial for effective safety management on construction sites. In this paper, fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, a practical and useful technique in dealing with multi-criteria decision making problems, is proposed and applied to evaluate the safety management performance of construction projects. 18 key factors that influence safety management performance are identified, and then an evaluation model is hierarchically structured. Furthermore, these factors are weighted by pairwise comparison with triangular fuzzy numbers. Results show that the proposed decision model can effectively help to solve the safety performance evaluation problem with fuzzy nature and improve the level of safety management in construction enterprise.
