  • Abstract
Surface water and ground water is extremely needed in arid and semi-arid northwest area of China, and rainwater is the only potential recourse. Nevertheless, conventional water treatment processes and methods have high technique requirement. What´s more, the operation, maintenance and management of the processes are often complicated, it is only suitable for large-scale and centralized water treatment mode, thus finding the appropriate rainwater treatment process is what we need to solve immediately. Considering that the quality, seasonality, spatial and temporal heterogeneity of the rainwater is unstable, we remove the pollutants by using hydrocyclone desander-artificial ecological sewage interception system-rough filtration-slow filtration process. Practical application shows that this process has a good removal effect of turbidity, chroma, organic compounds, N-NH4, bacteria and other microbiology indexes. Also, this process has the characters of low investment cost, low maintenance cost which eases the operation. All indexes of effluent can meet the Grade Standard of Drinking Water Quality in China. Thus, there is a good prospect for the process in northwest villages of China.
