            Abstract : 
Developed a Viterbi decoder for multilevel signal. Since this decoder compensates nonlinearity and pattern dependence, it improved a noise margin by 3.5dB. We confirmed the feasibility of a phase change optical disk system which has a recording density of 30Gbit/inch2.
