Abstract :
There exists the nonconforming product in the imperfect production process. Assuming that the percentage of the nonconforming items produced in the "in-control" state is a constant value and the percentage of the nonconforming items produced in the "out-of-control" state is a dynamic value with the process run time of "out-of-control" state. The paper focuses on the production run time for products sold with free minimal repair warranty in the imperfect production system with allowable shortages and time-varying percentage of the nonconforming products. A numerical example is provided to optimize the model, a sensitivity analysis is made to study the effects of model parameters on the production run time and to conclude that the production rate, the demand rate, the setup cost and post-sale warranty coverage period have effects on the production run time.
