Abstract :
Material flow analysis (MFA) has been a hot topic on the research of circular economy and sustainable development of the environment - economic systems in recent years. This paper briefly reviews the development process of MFA. A detailed summary of the recent progress of MFA has been given in three forms, which respectively for three research levels (the national level, the regional level and the industrial level). The fundamental methodology of MFA has been introduced. And its development has been summarized in a list. In the end, the research prospects have been concluded and discussed.
