Abstract
An algorithm for differential protection of parallel-teed transmission lines is proposed in this paper. The technique requires that sampling of data at the terminals of the line be synchronized. An easy-to-be-implement synchronization technique is suggested. The algorithm was simulated on a Sun Spar C workstation using the EMTDC software. Results of the simulations show that the algorithm performs well. Typical test cases are reported in the paper to demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm
