Abstract :
The paper presents a novel neural network ANN based relaying scheme for high impedance fault (HIF) detection in electric radial distribution networks. The scheme utilizes a discrimination vector (magnitudes and phases) third harmonic equivalent positive (+) negative (-) and zero sequence components. The ANN based relaying scheme was validated using the ATP-EMTP digital simulation software for a sample radial distribution feeder
