Abstract :
This study investigates the effect of pulse duration on the pulse dynamics, and focuses on the role of the delayed Kerr contribution. The propagation of both 50 fs and 450 fs experimental pulses is simulated in full (3+1)-dimensional geometry. The standard propagation model governing the evolution of the beam envelope assumes an equal contribution from both instantaneous and Raman-delayed Kerr to the effective nonlinear refractive index.
