Abstract
This paper presents a theoretical investigation of the dynamics of cold atoms in a high-Q optical cavity in the presence of pump phase noise. The influence of pump phase noise on the evolution of the coupled atom-cavity system using a phase diffusion model is also investigated. The behaviour of the system in the limiting cases of coherent pumping (slow phase diffusion) and incoherent pumping (fast phase diffusion) is compared.
