Abstract
In this tutorial, a number of techniques in computational intelligence are discussed, as well as hybrid methods with applications in a variety of problems. The subject of feature extraction is also dealt with, since features are in most cases considered as inputs to neural networks. Parameter estimation and data normalization-two of the key problems in optimization-are also discussed. Some philosophical issues are raised in this paper
