Abstract :
A model which supports grating-controlled transverse traveling wave modes in VCSELs with an external cavity is developed. An annular spatial filter is introduced into the external cavity to control the dynamical complexity of the system. This work shows that this system support cavity solitons in the form of localized traveling waves (LTW) (and localized standing waves) on a stable dark (nonlasing) background.
